Commencement Information

  • The ceremony will be held in the Dort Financial Center on December 13. 
  • Dort Financial Center is located at 3501 Lapeer Rd, Flint, MI 48503
  • Parking will cost $10 per vehicle and is cash only.
  • There is no guest limit; however, guest seating is first-come, first-served.
  • The UM-Flint Bookstore can assist students in purchasing caps, gowns, hoods, invitations and other commencement items.

Checklist before graduation

  1. Apply to graduate by August 28 If you need assistance, please contact the Registrar’s Office.
  2. Confirm your information in SIS is correct. Your diploma will be mailed to the address on file.
  3. Share your story!
  4. Watch your email for information from the Office of the Chancellor 
  5. If you have any guests who need accommodations, please fill out the Accommodation Form.
  6. Purchase your regalia. If you need assistance, the campus bookstore is happy to help!
  7. Commence! Arrive at the Dort Financial Center at least 45 minutes prior to your ceremony.
  8. Tell us what’s next! Complete your First Destination Survey – contact Career Services with any questions.
