Bartender
Student Bartenders working in Event and Building Services perform the following tasks:
 
  • Prepare and dispense alcohol and non-alcohol drinks
  • Prepare and stock the bar prior to the event
  • Maintain cleanliness of the bar area during the event
  • Operate cash register, scale and portable beer dispenser
  • Properly clean, weigh and store liquor and other items after the event
  • Clear tables of disposable beverage cups and napkins
  • Dispense alcohol in a responsible manner
  • Check identification of guests requesting alcohol
  • Visually assess and monitor the alcohol consumption patterns of guests
  • Inform guests tactfully that they can no longer receive alcohol service due to visible intoxication
  • Prepare inventory sheets prior to and at the conclusion of the event
  • Complete event reports accurately
  • Attend and successfully complete the Techniques of Alcohol Management training session or Training for Intervention Procedures

Event Manager
Student Event Managers working in Event and Building Services perform the following tasks:
 
  • Unlock and open rooms as needed
  • Enforce safety and fire regulations
  • Maintain customer relations
  • Ensure proper event set-ups
  • Oversee a specific area or building
  • Set-up and operate audio visual equipment
  • Provide information to students, faculty, staff and visitors regarding policies, programs and services
  • Perform routine administrative tasks related to programs and services
  • General clean up if needed
  • Assist bartenders by getting ice, monitoring alcohol consumption and cleaning tables
  • Post room cards and event sings on announcement boards
  • Securing equipment, rooms and buildings

Information Desk Attendant

Student Information Desk Attendants working in Event and Building Services perform the following tasks:

  • Direct visitors to various buildings, rooms, etc. as requested
  • Proper preparation and serving of food items
  • Proper storage, care and cleaning of food service equipment
  • Proper usage of a cash register, credit card machine and MCard machine
  • Maintenance of records and proper storage of items turned into the Information Center (lost & found)
  • Maintain cleanliness of Information Center area, storage rooms
  • Make copies, accept orders, answer customer inquiries about basic pricing and complete finish work for Printing Services

  • Serve as receptionist

  • Transport, set-up, removal and storage of equipment and furnishings
  • Maintain floor surfaces in all conference rooms, staging areas, break room by either sweeping, mopping or vacuuming
  • Clean tables and chairs
  • Cleaning walls, windows, ceilings, etc.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of equipment and conference rooms
  • Remove and dispose of trash from all conference rooms, storerooms and break room
  • Transport, set-up, removal and storage of audio/visual equipment
  • Learn and operate the sound systems
  • Assist customers with computers used in meeting rooms
  • Assist customers with other audio/visual equipment
