Facilities

The ERS program is housed on the fifth floor within the Murchie Science Building, a modern classroom and laboratory facility in downtown Flint, Michigan. For teaching, the department has three dedicated classrooms, including a geology lab.  An 18 station computer teaching lab for Geographic Information Systems, and a cartography lab with multiple digitizing stations and an extensive paper map collection are also located within the department. Two large lecture halls with capacities of 160 and 210 are available for large lecture courses and department presentations.

The University of Michigan is the largest public research university in the United States. Research facilities include the Thompson library on the UM-Flint campus, and the University of Michigan's main library in Ann Arbor. The campus has excellent computing facilities, and there is a software agreement with ESRI for ARC-INFO and all related GIS software.
