English Proficiency Requirements
Undergraduates

Undergraduate students must submit one of the following:

Graduates
Graduates students must submit one of the following:
| 84 (Internet-based) -minimum 23 in reading -minimum 23 in listening -minimum 17 in speaking -minimum 21 in writing |

OR
An official transcript showing one of the following: a degree earned at an accredited U.S. college or university
OR
Successful completion ('C' or higher) of ENG111 and ENG112 or its equivalent

Undergraduate students who do not meet the English requirements MUST submit a separate application to the ELP to be considered for conditional admittance to an undergraduate program.
Graduate students who do not meet the English requirements but are otherwise admissible will be automatically enrolled in the ELP.
Language Proficiency Exam
Upon arrival, students are required to take the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) exam. The MELAB is accepted as evidence of English language proficiency for admissions purpose by universities in the United States.
