Meet Your Librarian: Dave Hart
Office: 132 Thompson Library (Technical Services office)
What I Do
As head of Technical Services, I am fortunate to have very experienced staff to work with. Technical Services is responsible for ordering new serials, books, and media for the Library and then receiving, cataloging, processing, and paying for these materials. The Library's 2006/07 fiscal year acquisition budget included more than $600,000 for serials and nearly $250,000 for books and media. Technical Services also repairs books and periodicals and sends them out if they need to be rebound. I coordinate these activities, providing assistance as needed. I catalog all of the media acquired by the Library and am responsible for "quality control" aspects of the cataloging in Mirlyn. In that role, I serve as Flint's representative on the Metadata, Description and Records Committee that meets semi-monthly at the Graduate Library in Ann Arbor.
|My usual hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday 8 a.m. to mid-afternoon. These hours vary due to obligations at both work and home.
