Why study Psychology?
You’re interested in the inner workings of the human mind. What makes people “tick”? What drives social interactions and behaviors? Why do people act the way that they do? These questions and many more are found at the root of psychology. With a wide spectrum of topic areas, Psychology is a program that has a variety of possibilities.

Specialize. Choose from one of several available tracks within the psychology program:
Research Psychology: Research is one of the main components in the study of psychology. This program is designed to allow students to develop the skills and background needed to succeed in research-oriented graduate programs. You can also choose to concentrate in Research Psychology with an emphasis in cognitive science and focus on researching psychology as it relates to mental abilities.
Clinical/Community Psychology: Clinical psychologists work with individuals who have psychological problems, often providing therapy when necessary. Community psychologists work with everyday behaviors in the workplace, school, home and other related settings.
Social Sciences Joint Program: This program is specifically designed for students who want to partner their focus on psychology with additional courses in history, geography, political science or sociology. This gives a broad exposure to the social sciences while still allowing you to concentrate in psychology.
Philosophy & Psychology Joint Program: This joint program has been developed to combine elements from both the Psychology and Philosophy programs. You’ll receive an extensive education in human behavior, the effects of ethics and morality and the overall actions related to the human mind. -
Experience. Take advantage of our world class faculty! They are experts in their field and continue to conduct various research projects in conjunction with their teaching careers. Volunteer to assist and get some great experience for your résumé and get to know some of our fantastic professors.

Honors. Looking for more to add on to your résumé? How about presenting at a conference or attending professional meetings across the country? These are just some of the opportunities available to students in our Honors Program which is available for both incoming freshmen and transfer students.

Educate. Students have the option to add on a teaching certificate to their psychology degree. Not only will this provide additional employment opportunities, but it gives you the chance to make a difference in tomorrow’s youth.
