Psychology program St. Clair County Community College (SC4)

Earn your Bachelor of Arts in psychology on the St. Clair County Community College campus! Those of you on the sunshine side of the state can complete your degree close to home from UM-Flint--a Princeton Review "2009 Best Midwestern College."

This program, offered jointly with SC4, enables you to take nearly all of your courses for this program on the SC4 campus or online.

  • Apply up to 75 semester credit-hours from approved courses taken at SC4 (or other accredited universities) to the 120 required semester hours for the UM-Flint bachelor’s degree.

Psychology is the obvious major if you're planning to become a licensed psychologist, but it's also perfect if you're planning a career in health care, social services, education, communications, business management, government service or public policy.

What comprises this program?

  1. Completion of 120 credits, including general education requirements and foreign language. General education requirements in the natural sciences may not include courses in psychology.
    Prerequisite: MTH 111 or equivalent preparation determined by the mathematics departmental placement test.
  2. Thirty-six credits in psychology including:
    1. Foundation courses: PSY100, 319, 322, 323 (15 credits)
    2. Core courses: PSY309, 313, 315, 316, 317 (15 credits)
    3. Advanced Study. Six additional credits in psychology from among 300 or 400 level courses not used to meet another requirement.
    NOTE: Fifteen of these credits may be among the courses transferred from St. Clair County Community college.
  3. Satisfactory performance on departmental comprehensive educational evaluation.
    NOTE: No more than 40 hours in psychology may be used for the B.A. degree.
