Online Learning Support

Save gas, save time, save commuting hassles with UM-Flint Online!  We are here to help you every step of the way.  Helping our online, post-professional t-DPT and PT Clinical Certificate graduate students is the goal of every member of UM-Flint’s Physical Therapy Department, Office of Extended Learning, and Office of Graduate Programs.

Many supports for distance learning students to ensure that students learn effectively are available at UM-Flint.  Faculty support is available through email, telephone, fax, discussion boards, and face-to-face meetings. The faculty has designed the learning materials as interactive as possible and is committed to ensuring that students are supported in their studies.

SUPPORT FOR ONLINE LEARNING AT UM-Flint
We currently use Blackboard as our learning platform as it is user-friendly and accessible for students on the move through the internet. We provide you with:

  • An Admissions Advisor
  • Online Learning Help through the Office of Extended Learning
    • Consistent and helpful live technical support
      • Onsite: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. 
      • By phone and e-mail: Monday - Friday, 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

    • 1 Stop downloadable software plug-ins to enhance your online learning with Blackboard

    Online Orientation

    To enhance learning, the program includes online orientation.  The semester the student first enters the program a half day orientation is designed to familiarize participants with university resources and policies, and provide:

    • foundational information on adult learning,
    • information on distance learning technology,
    • an overview of the post-professional online t-DPT program, and
    • an introduction to the curriculum.

    The orientation also provides participants with the opportunity to network with colleagues and meet and begin to establish relationships with advisors and course instructors.



    In order to take full advantage of the resources in your online experience, make certain you have the hardware requirements (click on Tech PowerPack) and  software installed on your machine according to these specifications.
