Position Title: Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) in Excel and Access

The School of Management is seeking a highly qualified and motivated graduate student currently enrolled in the MBA program at the University of Michigan-Flint for the Fall 2012 and Winter 2013 semesters interested in gaining experience teaching at the college level as a Graduate Student Instructor (GSI). The successful candidate will work closely with the assigned faculty members teaching BUS 115 – Introduction to Business Applications and BUS 381 – Management Information Systems in the Fall 2012 semester and again in the Winter 2013 semester. This will include conducting 2 hours of recitation and 1.48 hours of preparation per week. Compensation is $3,172.50 for the two semesters. The compensation is based on an 8.7% effort appointment based on a full-time rate of $18,232.80. In addition, there is a partial tuition waiver for the Fall 2012 semester and the Winter 2013 semester, along with other eligible benefits. This position is governed by the contract between the University and the Graduate Employees' Organization and is eligible for other benefits as defined in the GEO contract. All employees governed by this contract are required to pay union membership dues or representative-service fees either through a payroll deduction or directly to the GEO.

In order to be considered, the candidate must have prior experience in EXCEL/ACCESS with preference given to those who have successfully completed MGT 581 – Management Information Systems with a grade of B or above. Further, the candidate must be in good standing in the MBA program, and enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours in each of the Fall 2012 semester and the Winter 2013 semester consisting of at least two (2) courses relevant to completion of the MBA program in each semester.

In selection, priority will be given to students with excellent academic performance in MGT 581, and in the overall MBA program, as well as those with past instructional experience. The Graduate Committee of the School of Management will select the successful candidate. Applicants will be notified of the outcome by July 22, 2012.





Finance & Managerial Accounting Accounting

In selection, priority will be given to students with excellent academic performance in MGT 512, and in the overall MBA program, as well as those with past instructional experience.
