Hiring Process
| • | Post the job(s) in of UM-Flint’s Career Connection. (Contact the Academic Advising and Career Center for assistance at (810) 762-3085.) |
| • | Gain cost-effective personnel - Student interns are usually paid a salary, but do not require expensive benefits, such as health insurance. |
| • | Receive and review resumes from eligible students. |
| • | Select and contact directly those students whom you would like to interview. |
| • | Interview and select your intern(s). |
| • | Orient your new intern(s) to your organization and the internship ground rules. |
For assistance with any of the steps listed above or to set up on-campus recruitment or interviews, please contact the Student Services Coordinator.
Employer responsibilities once the intern has been hired:
| • | Provide a dedicated supervisor. |
| • | Provide a safe work environment, free from discrimination and harassment. |
| • | Be a positive role model. |
| • | Offer a valuable learning experience. |
| • | Provide a performance evaluation at the end of the internship. |
