GET YOUR CAREER ON WITH AN INTERNSHIP!

An internship is a work-related learning experience designed for you to develop hands-on work experience in your future occupation.

An internship:
Is a one-time job experience of fixed duration, generally 150 hours or more.
May be part-time or full-time.
May be paid or unpaid.
May be part of an academic program and therefore monitored and evaluated by an academic department.
Is closely tied to a learning agenda with objectives, mentoring/coaching, and assessment.
A significant learning experience.

The School of Management (SOM) works very hard to ensure that all postings through the Business Internship Program will provide real-world, hands-on experience. You will be able to showcase your talent and build your skills while doing real work. You will be able to build your resume to make yourself more marketable to future employers.

Two types of internships

Academic

In an academic internship, you will register for SOM’s internship course and work at a company. Following your internship, you will be required to submit a qualitative report to an assigned SOM professor. An academic internship may be used for business elective credit, for which tuition will be charged.

Non-Academic

In a non-academic internship, you are required to complete and submit some forms to the Student Services Coordinator but will not work with a faculty member nor submit a final report. You will not register for an internship course; however, you will still gain relevant experience and build your resume.
