The Division of Student Affairs is your compass, and we are here to guide you through your student experience at UM-Flint. With over 100 clubs and organizations, intramural and club sports, fraternity and sorority life, LGBQTIA+, and multicultural communities, there’s something for everyone! We offer valuable services like counseling, veterans support, and accessible resources, as well as options for residential living and access programs. Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
Meet Dr. G
Christopher Giordano has been the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the University of Michigan-Flint since August 2018. With over 25 years of experience in higher education and student affairs, Dr. Giordano brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role.
Dr. G holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Toledo, a master’s degree in Counseling Services from Upsala College, and a bachelor’s degree from Rowan University. He also earned a graduate certificate in Organizational Learning from Suffolk University.
Before joining UM-Flint, he served as the Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students at the City University of New York, College of Staten Island. His career includes progressively responsible leadership roles at various institutions, including the University of Connecticut, Suffolk University, and Owens Community College.
At UM-Flint, Dr. G oversees the Division of Student Affairs, which encompasses 11 distinct areas and contributes to student success through a sense of belonging, equity and inclusion, engagement and leadership, health and wellness, and co-curricular and integrative learning. These values shape the division’s core pillars.
Known for his strategic vision and commitment to student success, Dr. G is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students at UM-Flint.
