As a unit of the Center for Global Engagement, the Office of Engaged Learning (ELO) works to advance public engagement efforts at the University of Michigan-Flint. ELO supports and coordinates community-engaged learning and service efforts with students, faculty, and community partners. UM-Flint has been recognized as a Community Engaged campus by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching since 2010. ELO coordinates with multiple partners across campus and in the community to advance partnerships and collaborations to advance transformative engaged learning experiences.
ELO works to advance engaged citizenship (locally and globally) through place-based education. ELO supports this agenda through developing and facilitating participatory curricular and co-curricular projects and programs for:

- Civic engagement
- Community-based learning
- Volunteering
- Internships
