GEAR UP

Michigan Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (MI GEAR UP) at UM-Flint partners with Beecher and Hamady High Schools to accomplish postsecondary access, impact, and achievement. By equipping our students with the necessary tools, skills, and exposure, UM-Flint GEAR UP’s goal is to increase the number of students from economically disadvantaged communities to graduate high school and be prepared and succeed in post-secondary education.

Our services include but are not limited to the following:

Workshops to offer supplemental development
College visits and tours
Tutoring and mentoring
College informational and preparation opportunities
Scholarship opportunities
Family resources events and workshops
Career awareness and internship opportunities
Cultural enrichment opportunities
Summer programs
