GEAR UP
Michigan Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (MI GEAR UP) at UM-Flint partners with Beecher and Hamady High Schools to accomplish postsecondary access, impact, and achievement. By equipping our students with the necessary tools, skills, and exposure, UM-Flint GEAR UP’s goal is to increase the number of students from economically disadvantaged communities to graduate high school and be prepared and succeed in post-secondary education.
Our services include but are not limited to the following:
- Workshops to offer supplemental development
- College visits and tours
- Tutoring and mentoring
- College informational and preparation opportunities
- Scholarship opportunities
- Family resources events and workshops
- Career awareness and internship opportunities
- Cultural enrichment opportunities
- Summer programs
