While these generative AI tools offer incredible possibilities, it is very important to exercise caution when utilizing them.

U-M GPT | University of Michigan ITS is now offering a generative AI platform available to all active U-M faculty, staff, and students on the Ann Arbor, Flint, and Dearborn campuses and Michigan Medicine. These service offerings are equitable, accessible, and support everything from basic consumer usage to advanced research and experimentation. U-M GPT is our most accessible AI service, and a tool that provides access to popular hosted AI models such as Azure OpenAI, Llama 2, and U-M hosted open-source large language models. U-M GPT also incorporates the ability to generate images using the popular AI text-to-image tool, DALL·E 3. |
ChatGPT | ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is a chatbot developed by OpenAI. It uses Natural Language Processing (NLP) to answer questions, write content, summarize information and more. It runs on a large language models called GPT-3.5 and GPT-4. |
GPT-4 | GPT-4 Turbo is the latest version of OpenAI’s language model systems. It is a large multimodal model, accepting text and image inputs and emitting text outputs. |
Copilot | Copilot is Microsoft’s AI chatbot and runs on OpenAI’s GPT-4 large language model. |
Gemini | Gemini is Google’s AI chatbot that uses a large language model Google also calls Gemini. |
Claude | Developed by Anthropic, this is a chatbot based on the Claude 3 large language model. It uses Constitutional AI, integrating AI and legal frameworks, to self-govern and eliminate human data labeling, ensuring operations within ethical and legal limits. |
Sora | Sora is an AI media tool developed by OpenAI that allows you to create video based on only natural language text instructions. |
DALL·E 3 | DALL·E 3 is an AI system that enables users to create images and art from a text description in natural language. |
Midjourney | Midjourney is a generative AI that creates images based on natural language text instructions. |
Stable Diffusion | Stable Diffusion is an AI art generator that enables users to create unique imagery from short text descriptions, also known as prompts. |
GitHub Copilot | GitHub Copilot is an AI pair programmer that translates natural human language into programming code. |

Maizey Canvas Connector
Maizey is now seamlessly integrated with Canvas, making it easy to configure a Maizey AI tutor directly within Canvas with just a few clicks. Once set up, Maizey can be available 24/7 to assist your students with course-specific questions, clarify concepts, and provide information about upcoming assignments and deadlines. Instructors can create Maizey AI tutors for their Canvas courses without using a shortcode and add Maizey for free with a new tier that offers generous usage limits for each Canvas course per term, ensuring it meets the needs of most classrooms.
