Earn Two Degrees With Up to 17 Fewer Credits
The joint Bachelor of Science/Master of Public Health (BS/MPH) programs are designed for undergraduate College of Health Sciences students who have an early interest in pursuing a MPH degree.
Qualified undergraduate students in five different programs can complete the MPH with up to 17 fewer credits than if it were pursued separately. The joint programs are open to students in the following undergraduate majors – Health Care Management, Health Sciences, Public Health, Radiation Therapy and Respiratory Therapy.
An additional benefit for undergraduate students is that they will be completing graduate courses at the undergraduate tuition rate while they are enrolled in the joint program.
The degrees are independent; each is awarded when completed, with specific courses accepted for the MPH degree after the bachelor degree is awarded. The joint program courses are offered in a variety of delivery formats including face-to-face, evenings, mixed-mode, and online. You can have at least three resume-worthy experiences in the community through an internship and a capstone where you develop health-related projects to be used by agencies to accomplish their mission.
Along with guidance from our experienced faculty, these real-world projects allow you to acquire the skills needed to address current public health challenges and prepare for a career as a public health professional.
Flexible MPH Program With 100% Online Option
You can start working toward the Master of Public Health while an undergraduate student. Designed to accommodate diverse student needs, the MPH program at UM-Flint can be completed 100% online if you choose and on a part-time or a full-time basis. Some classes can be completed online asynchronously and others using Hyperflex technology, which allows students to choose from week to week to attend in-person or online synchronously.

UM-Flint’s MPH students have the opportunity to be involved in meaningful public health research projects. As a part of the world-renowned University of Michigan system, UM-Flint also enables students to tap into additional resources at the Dearborn and Ann Arbor campuses.

Accreditation
The Public Health Programs at the University of Michigan-Flint received accreditation from the Board of Councilors of the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) in June 2021.
The five-year span is the maximum term the programs could have achieved for a first-time applicant. The accreditation term extends until July 1, 2026. Our initial accreditation status is recorded as November 2018.
