Immunizations
Immunizations are recommended to protect your health and the health of others. We encourage you to come to college fully immunized. Immunizations are one of the most effective public health measures in preventing communicable diseases. Immunizations are not a university requirement. Students can register for classes without immunizations; however, academic programs or volunteer activities may have different requirements.
The following immunizations are recommended:
- Meningitis: It is recommended for all first-year students living in residence halls. Other students under age 25 may choose to be vaccinated to reduce their risk of disease; ask your health care provider if a booster is recommended.
- Human papilloma virus
- Influenza
- Hepatitis A & B
- Measles, mumps and rubella: two doses
- Polio: Primary series completed
- Tetanus-diptheria-pertussis: Primary series completed and booster of Td or Tdap within the past 10 years
- Varicella (Chicken pox): if you haven’t had disease
- Tuberculosis: Test is not a university requirement; however, academic programs or volunteer activities may have different requirements.
Additional information on communicable diseases can be found in the Genesee County Health Department’s fact sheets. For locations and hours visit Genesee County Health Department Immunization Clinics
