What is a co-working space?
It is a place where you can meet clients and do work during normal business hours. This study space has all the perks of the bookstore or coffee shop without making you purchase anything.

A co-working space is a place for entrepreneurs and the public to escape the distractions of working at home.

If you have a laptop or tablet, you can use the free wi-fi internet access to complete assignments. There are whiteboards, projection screens, a flat-screen TV with Skype access, social enterprise periodicals and a business reference library that can all be accessed in the space.

The Innovation Incubator is housed inside the co-work space, Suite 207, at the Northbank Center, 432 N. Saginaw Street.

What does it cost?
All services are offered at no cost.

[IN] is funded by the University of Michigan-Flint, the U.S. Economic Development Administration, and the C.S. Mott Foundation.

What hours are the Incubator and co-working space open?
The Incubator is open to the public on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Summer hours may be reduced. The Incubator is closed during holidays and campus closings.

Can I walk in?
No.  Individuals or groups wanting to use the space may contact Kelli Catrell at [email protected] to make a reservation.

Who can get access to resources?
Any student or member of the public can apply for business planning assistance from the Incubator, and enjoy use of the co-work space and other resources. After a personal interview, businesses and nonprofits may qualify for additional resources, such as a mailing address or mentoring by UM-Flint faculty.

Can I hold a meeting in the space?

  • Groups affiliated with the Office of Economic Development and who work collaboratively with the community may reserve the classroom area for meetings and classes.
  • UM-Flint faculty working on collaborative community projects are encouraged to hold classes in the space.
  • The Innovation Incubator is an active co-work space, so it is likely other individuals may also be working in the space while your meeting is held.
