Earn your Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Michigan-Flint
UM-Flint is proud to offer its Doctor of Occupational Therapy program, the first of its kind in the state of Michigan. As the highest level of academic preparation that an entry-level occupational therapist can obtain, the OTD program empowers our students to be among the most coveted graduates locally, regionally and nationally.
Our program is the only OT program offered at any U-M campus and is widely recognized as offering outstanding clinical preparation. Our connection with Michigan Medicine gives students unique access and opportunities to network with highly skilled occupational therapy clinicians and researchers.
The program utilizes a learner-centered teaching approach. Incorporating authentic educational activities and experiences, students build their confidence through active hands-on learning. Students also benefit from interprofessional education opportunities with our prestigious Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and other health professional programs. Occupational therapy students can hone their patient-centered health care practices across disciplines by utilizing their vast experiences in labs, clinics, and community settings.
The OTD program can be finished in three years and provides world-renowned preparation for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy exam.
Expand Your Leadership with an MBA
UM-Flint offers a dual OTD/MBA program for those looking to add an array of business knowledge and skills alongside their career path in health care. Students in this program have the unique opportunity to take part in our award-winning, student-led pro bono clinic as well as experience fieldwork and interprofessional experiences at Michigan Medicine.
