Intensive Course Development
Are you looking to design a new course or hoping to change the design of an existing one? Did you want to get a jumpstart on course planning for an upcoming semester? Join us for Intensive Course Development!
ICD is designed to guide instructors in building a high-quality online course. This five-week asynchronous course offers flexibility in completion, allowing participants to progress at their own pace within the outlined time frame. While there are structured weekly modules, there are no set meeting times, enabling participants to access and complete course materials at times that best fit their schedules.
Over the first four weeks, participants will receive step-by-step guidance on the course development process and an introduction to various instructional technologies. The course also includes an overview of how AI can enhance instructional strategies, support course material creation, and assist in student evaluation, giving instructors tools for incorporating innovative technology into their teaching practice. By the end, participants will have created essential components for an online course, including clearly defined learning objectives, a syllabus, and a complete set of course materials for one week of instruction. Throughout, we will also explore key e-learning design principles and demonstrate the core functions of the Canvas Learning Management System.
