Campus Electronic Security Advisory Committee

The Campus Electronic Security Advisory Committee has several electronic security-related responsibilities at the University of Michigan-Flint. The committee’s actions are presented to the Vice Chancellor for Business & Finance for approval and implementation.
Committee Responsibilities
The Electronic Security Advisory Committee will serve in an advisory capacity to the university administration with responsibilities in:
- Policy Development & Oversight – Establishes and reviews electronic security policies to align with campus safety goals.
- System Evaluations – Assess current security technologies and recommend improvements or upgrades.
- Threat Assessments – Monitors emerging security threats and develops proactive solutions.
- Collaboration & Communication – Works with university departments to ensure security measures align with campus needs.
- Incident Review & Recommendations – Review security incidents and provide guidance for future prevention strategies.
- Advocacy & Training – Promotes awareness, transparency, and training initiatives to educate the campus community on best practices for security.
Committee Membership
The Director of Public Safety chairs the Campus Electronic Security Advisory Committee. Committee Membership includes staff representation from departments that support campus safety, such as DPS, Information Technology Services, Conference & Events and Facilities and Operations. The committee also includes faculty and student representative(s) who serve as liaisons between the committee and their respective groups. The Committee Chair invites guests/consultants to assist with the work as necessary.
