Students, Faculty, Staff, and Retirees
All valid university parking permit holders may park in any university-owned parking area excluding the Northbank Center Ramp; Blue Parking Area (UPAV Ramp); Riverfront Building Ramp; Lot P (WSW); and specifically designated spaces for handicap parking, service vehicle/restricted parking, etc.
Mcard access is required for parking in the Northbank Center Ramp and the Riverfront Building Ramp. A Blue Parking permit is required to park in designated Blue Parking spaces in the University Pavilion (UPAV) Ramp.
Recreation Center Members
Mill Street Parking Ramp. Members may also park in Lot A before 8 a.m., after 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and anytime Friday-Sunday. Day Pass users must acquire a Visitor Parking Pass and should park in the Mill Street Ramp. More Information
Handicap Parking
Spaces are designated for all parking lots and structures. A valid UM-Flint Parking Permit and a State of Michigan Handicap Parking Permit are required.
Oversized Vehicle Parking
To ensure safety and accessibility, oversized or extended vehicles must park in university-owned flat lots. These vehicles are not permitted in parking ramps.
A vehicle is considered oversized or extended if it:
- Touches the height bar at the ramp entrance and/or
- Exceeds 18 feet in length, including any external hardware extensions.
Oversized or extended vehicles are welcome in flat lots A, Q, R, S, or T (excluding designated spaces). A map of campus parking areas is available here.
The Department of Public Safety may issue tickets to vehicles parked in ramps violating these guidelines.
Electric Vehicle Parking
Charging stations are available Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
and require a valid UM-Flint parking permit and a UM-Flint Electric Vehicle parking permit.
Permits can be obtained through the DPS Administrative Office.
Service Vehicles
Spaces designated in all parking lots and structures for limited durations. A valid Service Vehicle Permit is required. Parking in excess of one-half hour is discouraged. If circumstances arise that require parking in a Service Vehicle space for an extended period of time, please notify DPS at 810-762-3333.
Visitor Parking
Visitor Parking Permits can be provided to those planning to attend specific meetings or events. Please contact the host department to receive a Visitor Parking Permit.
Temporary metered parking is available in Lot P at the William S. White Building and the Northbank Center Parking Ramp is available as a paid option ($5.00 per entry; cash/credit accepted). Additional paid options are available within the City of Flint.
Open Parking
Open Parking allows anyone with a valid university permit to park in any university-owned parking area excluding the Northbank Center Ramp; Blue Parking Area (UPAV Ramp); Riverfront Building Ramp; Lot P (WSW); and specifically designated spaces for handicap parking, service vehicle/restricted parking, etc.
Open Parking will be in effect for the 2024-25 academic year.
